The Arts & Creative Industries Unit has appointed creative workspace and EU funding expert Keith Hackett to undertake research into the future workspace needs of the city. The project is designed to give the city a better understanding of the amount and type of space that the creative industries will need over the next 10 years.
The project has six key outcomes:
1. Provide up to date information on regional, national and international policy on creative workspace development as it affects Brighton & Hove.
2. To identify unmet demand and forecast the future needs of the creative industries by sub-sector.
3. To prioritise the future needs by sub-sector and recommend how this can be best addressed thru the emerging Local Development Framework.
4. Draw up a set of underlying principles to be included in future development and site briefs.
5. Include several relevant case studies and precedents demonstrating a range of methodologies and financial structures.

This is a richly illustrated history of Brighton's leading contemporary art gallery produced to celebrate their first 10 years. "The founding principle of Fabrica was tht artists would be helped to realise and communicate their ideas, as far as possible without compromise, so that a broad constituency of people could share both in the creative process and in the alchemy that occurs when powerful works of art inhabit a space."

12th April 2007 The site was formally launched on March 29th 2007, at a reception and party event at The Hanbuary Ballroom. A fabulous evening was had by all! Introduced by Simon Beales, Chair of Creative Brighton, and with guest speakers Cllr Sue John, Deputy Leader of Brighton & Hove City Council, with Lynne Truss giving a wonderufl and very funny view of why Brighton is such a wonderful place to be creative. This went down very well but she was preaching to the converted after all.
The Creative Brighton website went live in February 2007 along with an associated listserve that allows creative practitioners and businesses to talk to each other.
